damn thing took a shit on the 710 when i was coming home from work, sound like midgets weere under the hood banging on things with tools!

yeh took 2 1/2 hrs to get it home. when i left work it was fine then got on 405 to 710 and clack clicnk tink pow tink ect...clackerd all the way to the 91 bellflower exit. i stopped on the off ramp cuz i didnt wanna get stuck in the street cuz if i stopped it would die on me and might not start back up. so i took the front bumper off to protect the spec h lip from dips when i was duke of hazarding through intersection dips ect. so now im looking for a motor..leaning towards 2jzge-T swap so 7mgte part out coming soon :roll:

How much u think the whole 2j swap will run? I'm planning on doing the same eventually.

well i wasgonna get a 2jzge with auto tranny for $300 with like 100k on it. was gonna sell the tranny for about $150-200. i have a turbo 89 so wated to use the r154 so i would need 1j bell housing about $300 and flywheel about $250. then i woul need 7mge ecu and harness idk how much those go for now adays, can see it being more than $100 for both. and thats just to get my car back up and running NA while i get all the turbo stuff and get my gt harness spliced to work and if i do all my own work. mabe get help from LBCrew but i would have to bribe tem with pizza and beer lol so factor in about another $100. and little random things that may go roung during the swap and oil and tranny fluid and things maybe another $70.

2jzge+tranny $300
bell housing $300
flywheel $250
ecu + harness $100
pizza+beer:mrgreen: $100
random little things +$100
---------------------------
=$1350

sell auto tranny -200
sell unneeded -200
things off 7m
-----------------------------
=$950 roughly
but this is not including a turbo parts and that could be any where to another $1000-$3000 depending on what/where you get things from

Well good luck with all that. What I had in mind for mine is since I have the 87,88 model I need to swap my crossmember for I believe the 89+ model I'm basicly gonna need everything ur getting but not sure obout the ecu since I'm going 2jzgte also if thers anything else I need to b aware of I would like to hear ur opinions.

you won't need to swap the cross member if you get the 1JZ conversion mounts from BICperformance.com

^ x2 thos are like $150 forgot to mention i would need those also....but im keeping my 7m for now. the bottom end will be rebuilt and ill be back on the road in no time :) 2j is kool and everything but i can reach my power goal with the 7m so....ehh

Make sure you seal that motor tight. All new seals all round and add FIPG everywhere. Then and only then will you be safe :? If your turbo burns oil....rebuild that shit

Tnx for that info on the mounts, its good to know as much for when the time comes which is not anytime soon I just did the head work on my 7m so I should b good for a long time if nothing goes wrong hopefully.

If he runs the 2J in NA then he could go with 7MGE or 2JZGE electronics.Only if he wants to use it as turbo does he need the 7MGTE ecu and harness.
