need help with my freshly rebuilt 1jz

Postby oowee1jz » Wed Jul 21, 2010 1:36 pm

so i just rebuilt my 1j, it starts up and has good oil pressure but it idles at 2000 and i cant rev it past 3000. theres a check engine light but i cant check it because the light doesnt come on when turned to the on position. but it does come on when its running but i still cant check it then, no flashes. ive checked vacuum lines and theyre good, checked all grounds and they are all touching bare metal, checked wiring everything is good. only plugs i didnt use on the harness were 3 identical 2 pin male plugs (looks the same as plug for heater valve on the passenger side) next thing i suspect is a bad ecu, so does anyone near long beach have a jza70 ecu i could use to test it? it been about half a week since startup and i still havent drove it

im not quite sure what the ohm reading should be. although it should be the same as the mkiv ones. also if you have another one, try and swap with that

bad wiring to the crank sensor will cause you to not be able to go past 2500 (or bad sensor)

high idle is usually a vacuum leak

check engine light not working correctly, bad wiring

Tps could cause the high idle too.

Maybe a loose ground somewhere for the check engine light.

My hunch was right. my biggest grip with the 1J is its ecu.
