400ps Normally Aspirated Supra

By Robert Pina

That's right, boost isn't for everyone.  This is the style

of modifying you might expect on a 76 Datsun, but not

a technologically advanced Supra.  The stock output

of this Japan Spec 2JZ N/A motor is already above 200hp

due to the advanced VVTi system.  These Japanese

tuners took it to the limit.  These are some pictures that

appeared in the Options magazine, a Japanese tuner book.

Intake air is sucked in by a set of 6 high flow throttle bodies, each with their own throttle plate.  They

are move difficult to tune, but result in a higher power output on the normally aspirated motors.  This is the same type of setup you might see on an All Motor drag Honda.  Fuel delivery through the custom rail is handled by 550cc injectors.

The exhaust side is one of the most beautiful sites you might see.

After the hot stuff flows past some amazing 312 duration custom

camshafts they find their way into one of these six long mandrel

runners that are part of the header system.  We can only speculate

but we are quite sure that it is a race style 6-1 setup.

You might wonder what controls all of these oddities.  This is the Motec

engine management system that drives this car among a countless list

of other high horsepower beasts.  We only regret we don't read Japanese

to be able to get the full story on this car.
